In this 30-minute class, we'll paint a quiet, snowy street using just one deep blue and a small pop of brighter color. We'll let light and dark do the heavy lifting by building up layers with care. It's a small, charming winter scene that's right at home on the front of a card, and a great workout for your art skills. You’ll walk away with a better eye for shadows and highlights, as well as better control of your water-to-pigment ratio.

Nothing is quite as classic as a wreath, especially during the holidays. And despite how complicated they may look, they’re much easier than you might think. At its most basic, a wreath is just a repeating pattern. Once you understand how to build one, you can make endless variations, each with its own charm. In this 30-minute class, we'll paint a wintry wreath with pine boughs and mistletoe. We'll start by setting up the wreath's structure, then decide on the pattern: what kinds of leaves and plants to include and how they repeat around the circle. From there, we'll build it up layer by layer. It's a beginner-friendly way to put your watercolor skills to work and make something bespoke for your holiday cards.
Three Holiday Phrases: Lettering for Every Part of Your Card
We all know that lettering is a useful skill come the holiday season, but it’s hard to know where to start. To help you get a jump on your holiday cards, this 1-hour class will cover three different holiday greetings in three distinct styles. Whether you’re making all your cards from scratch this year or you’re buying from the store, you can use your lettering skills to give each card and correspondence that personal touch. You can use these designs as inspiration, tweak them to your liking, or copy them outright; the idea is to make your card-giving season more beautiful and less stressful. New to blackletter? Mini Snowscapes: Tiny Winter Scenes Framed in Gold
Who says art has to be big to make an impact? In this 30-minute class, we'll paint small snowy landscapes just a few inches big. We'll keep them simple, with snow-covered hills, a few trees and maybe a cloud or two. They rely on color choices and mood rather than detail, making them quick projects perfect to make in batches. Once the paintings are dry, we'll outline each one in gold watercolor paint for an elegant finishing touch. These little gems are perfect for cutting out and adding to the front of a card: a classy piece of handmade art without committing to a full-size painting.
How to Draw a Pine Tree: Structure, Texture, & Gesture
You don't need to draw every needle to make a believable pine tree! In this 30-minute class, we'll keep things loose and start by capturing the tree's overall gesture. Then we'll add just enough detail to make it look real and interesting. We'll look at how pine trees are organized: how branches split off, where pine cones grow and the patterns that repeat throughout the tree. Once you understand that logic, filling in the rest gets much easier. We'll also practice a few different needle textures, from spiky to soft, so you can draw all kinds of evergreens.
Split Christmas Tree: Color Control in Watercolor
What happens when you slice a Christmas tree into pieces and start flipping the colors? In this 30-minute class, we'll start with a simple scene of a Christmas tree, a few basic ornaments and some gifts underneath. Then we'll use a ruler to draw straight lines that cut across the whole thing, dividing it into fractured sections. A rough line art image will be provided so we can spend our time doing the fun part: painting! As we paint, some sections get one color scheme, while neighboring sections get flipped. It's a fun, graphic project and a great practice in positive and negative space. Above all, it's a lesson in color control: keeping each color crisp and clean without letting it bleed into its neighbors. You’ll walk away with a funky A5 size painting that you can totally stick on a card.

The little details matter, and a beautifully lettered gift tag makes any present feel personal and handmade. In this 1-hour class, we'll keep things practical. I'll show you how to pick a lettering style, create a variety of “to”s and “from”s, and practice a name until it flows and fit it nicely on a small tag. We'll cover a few basic techniques, then I'll take name requests so you can see your loved ones' names lettered out in different styles (and yes, we'll do Santa too!). By the end of class, you'll feel confident lettering every tag under the tree.
Watercolor Gift Tags: An Easy Win for the Holidays
Looking for a quick, beautiful win in the middle of holiday chaos? In this 30-minute class, we'll make one-of-a-kind watercolor gift tags with no drawing or designs required. We'll focus on wet-in-wet, letting colors bloom and blend on their own, and add a few extra textures as time allows. You'll see how easy it is to make a stunning tag in just a few minutes. If time is tight, pre-cut watercolor tags are the way to go. If you'd like to get crafty, I'll also show how to paint a large batch on a full sheet of watercolor paper, then cut the tags to size and punch the holes yourself.
How to Draw Snow: Values, Blending & Lifting
How do you draw something that's white with a pencil? In this 30-minute class, we'll learn to describe snow using values, the soft shadows and gentle shapes around it that let the white of the paper read as fresh snowfall. Using soft pencils, a blending stump, and a kneaded eraser, we'll build up shading, smooth it out and lift out highlights to create cozy snowy scenes that actually look like snow. It's a simple set of tools with a big payoff for all your winter drawings.
Easy Beginner Watercolor Snowman
Do you wanna build a snowman? In this 30-minute class, we'll paint a sweet little snowman, perfect for the front of a holiday card. We'll lightly shadow the snow to show depth and give him a round, three-dimensional shape, all without losing the bright white of the paper. Then we'll add the fun touches: a cozy hat, a carrot nose and twiggy stick arms.
