Loving the whimsy!

Erica did a beautiful job of bringing the magic of watercolor to life for me. I was a little overwhelmed because it is all so new to me. Like, how do I get my paint wet enough to use but not too wet. And I don’t know what a “wash” is. We’re talking beginner like never held a paintbrush for decades! But I slowly but surely made my way through the getting-to-know-my-paints lessons. And it was great!

Water control

Monochrome painting is more fun than I thought! This course helped me improve my paint to water ratio.

Discover your creativity!

I could tell that the intuitive lessons are one of Shelby's favourites as she struck a balance between enthusiasm but also relaxed. She emphasised that being creative just for it's own sake is valuable and is part of the journey of any medium. I really like that she demonstrated what stream of consciousness is by listening to her train of thought while her hands were busy. Fun to do, no pressure!

Perfect amount of information

Shelby has a very soothing voice that's easy to listen to and a pleasure to listen to. I liked that she explained what was needed and what we could get but wasn't necessary. Each video was the perfect length not long and boring but gave the information we needed and a enjoyable amount of time. There is nothing I disliked about this quick course I thought it was spot on.

Negative Painting

I loved this class. I bumbled through it, but plan on doing it more times.

writing tools

I likes she went in to the different writing tools that could be used and showed the differences in appearances. Plus she noted its not the supplies its the time spent practicing that makes the project good

It's very helpful to have the supplies explained in terms of how necessary or not and how to use the items.

I liked the presentation both verbally and being able to see the items.

This is where it starts to get REAL!

The Watercolour Academy so far has prioritised basic techniques over fast tracking projects. It's good to see that WC painting is definitely a skill requiring a lot of practice and consistency. Layering, water control and colour application are covered in ways that are easily demonstrated and understood. I am enjoying so much expanding my skill set thanks to Foxsy!!!

Can be challenging for some people.

As an analytical person, intuitive art is a challenge. It's refreshing to learn that everything doesn't have to tie in together or even make sense on the page. Wow, what a freeing concept!

I learned a lot about watercolors

I learned that I need to be patient with the process and use a heater to dry. I didn't know the importance of layers. I now have a different approach, and realize I will need to plan out what I want to paint, thinking of light colors first.
