Class Description:

Nothing says October like bold, dramatic blackletter! In this 1-hour class, we'll letter the word "Wicked" in spiky, dramatic Gothic calligraphy, breaking it down letter by letter so you can see how each stroke builds the form and keep your spacing and pen angle consistent.

We'll work with black ink on white paper, but may explore different inks and papers so you can expand beyond the classic look. We'll finish with simple flourishes that add personality without overwhelming your letters.

What You Will Learn:

The basic rules of this particular style
How to letter "Wicked" step by step
How to keep pen angle, weight and spacing consistent
How to add simple flourishes

Supplies You'll Need:

Flat nib calligraphy pen (dip pen and nib, Pilot Parallel pen, chisel-tip marker, or DIY soda can nib)
Black ink
Calligraphy paper or smooth white paper
Pencil and ruler for guidelines
Optional alternates: other inks and papers you'd like to try, such as white or gold inks, black or colored paper, etc
