What’s your favorite lettering style and why?

Hi everyone! I’d love to know what lettering styles inspire you the most. Are you drawn to modern calligraphy, traditional scripts, or maybe bold brush lettering? Share your favorites and what makes them special to you! 🖋️

    My favorite lettering is called Gothic or Blackletter. I love how it looks so fancy. It’s even better when the page starts with an illuminated letter. I would love to see some classes on making them either on paper or in Procreate!

    I tend towards print and script, but not brush lettering. I don’t love serifs (I love the look, but hate drawing the serifs!). I love sharp, harsh angles on letters but am enjoying adding flourishes to some letters. I did like the banner class to add something special!

      I felt the same way about serifs for a long time. I just didn’t want to get all caught up in those extra strokes! Eventually what helped me understand serifs and have fun with them was Italic, or Flat Nib calligraphy. I linked the class below!

      I’m glad you’re having fun with flourishes and banners, though! It’s so fun to expand your options and play around with those elements.
