I’m pushing my digital art skills while also practicing my landscapes. The two of these combined are really pushing my comfort zone, but it’s great getting to stretch my legs, so to speak.
I just wrapped up my second Digital Speed Paint session this month, actually! You can see my reference photo and my finished piece in this graphic.

No surprise, I’ve been working on watercolor botanicals and gel plate.\nThe the gel play I have been working on has not been layered designs but woman speaking out. I am still working on these 2, but I do love them.And so I’d like to share them.

Actually not a thing. Still recouping and so many appointments (in town and 3.5 hrs away) and 2 kinds of therapy, I am worn out most days to accomplish anything.

A ram’s skull pirate flag was requested for an event I was organizing. It’s medium and heavy acrylic paint on a polyester microfibre sheet. (Bed linens are less expensive than fabric by the metre or yard… and are pre-hemmed!)
I kept the paint quite fluid and used the watercolour technique of working in layers I learned here at Foxsy, letting each dry before working on the next layer of paint. Everyone loved it at the event this weekend, but it didn’t pop visually as much as I’d hoped (see the WiP picture vs the selfie-station). I’ve brought it home to add a complementary-coloured outline to add depth, plus some less-subtle highlights where the fabric is thin, which should help when the flag isn’t in ideal lighting in the future.

This looks so great!! You really got some clean lines on the swords and great depth on the skull. Something that you might want to try next time is painting the first layer totally in white. That will make the yellow pop more strongly against the black. Layering a light color on a dark base can be tricky, but I think you did splendid. Oh, something else I’ve seen people do (never tried myself) is mixing fabric softener into acrylics. Apparently this makes the paint more flexible and last longer on something as flexible as fabric.
