Hi all! I’m Kolina. I started painting as a way to help my mental health after becoming disabled and fell in love with all things art. It was after that that I found Foxsy. I do mostly abstract, mixed media pieces but am always trying to expand my horizons. Below is my favorite piece of mixed media art I’ve made:

Hi, Kolina, I love your abstract. What (approximate) size is the piece? I am guessing 9”x12” and wondering if I am way off on that
-
Thanks Glenda! It’s actually 5×7 I think. But I tend to run right off the page with no borders which I think makes the paintings looks larger.

I’m so glad to have you here, Kolina! I love this piece so much. It has so many gorgeous colors, textures, and dimensions that it takes the eye on a lovely journey.

Hi I’m Kae, or wjgravity all over the internet. I’m a mixed media artist, junk journaller, and collector of skills (art and otherwise)!
As I mentioned, I love trying new things. I don’t always love them, but I still like to try them. I get most of my materials used from yard sales and thrift stores, so I have an army of colored pencils from new brands, discontinued brands, cheap brands, and expensive brands. The same with the markers I use for hand-lettering (though not brush lettering, turns out I’m not a fan!).

Well, I saw that there were only a few replies to this thread and it just seemed like it was begging some activity because I am positive that Foxsy has many members. My name is Zoie and I have been with Shelby and Jon since the beginning. At first there were only 12 of us I think. I have watched her grow and continually expand her horizons, classes and website. Many years of hard work and help along the way. I am proud of everyone who has helped to grow their dream and so proud of what they have done. My life has been, and sadly still is, very chaotic and at 73 with children who are 50 and grandchildren who are adults, you would think that things would slow down – lol! But that definitely isn’t the case. Serious health issues seem to have arisen all around me over the last year so I haven’t been able to be much of a presence anywhere. But, I lurk when I can and once in a while even make an appearance even though no one really remembers me, I am still here. Still caring, still watching and I will try to be more of a presence here.
I am a nature girl and primarily have been doing (when I have time) watercolour, drawing, urban sketching, nature journaling, art journaling and always trying to learn new things. I play several musical instruments, build in the electronic world (mainly synthesizers and controllers) and do a bit of woodworking in connection with those builds. I am a dancer, ballet and Ukrainian dancing and at a competition level. I love hiking, walking, kayaking, swimming and biking. I am a Nature Journal Educator and a Wild Wonder Foundation Ambassador and being a steward both here in the city (Edmonton, Alberta) and in the country is very important to me and I try to bring renewal to where I am and look after the birds and animals.
Well, that’s about it for me and I really hope that I see lots of stories from everyone as they introduce themselves. Doesn’t have to be this long you know – whatever you are willing to share, but it would should help Shelby’s site and the joy she, Jon and her assistants will have as they see the community start to thrive. In some areas it has been months. 😉
