Namaste – Yoga gestures
Got a yoga book? They can be really good for practicing gesture.Lots of flow. My goal was ten gestures today, simplified forms using C and S curves, trying to find the line of action and focusing on flow.

January 29, 2026 at 4:40 pmThese look SO GOOD. For real, you have managed to capture the essence of these poses with dynamic lines and confident marks. And using a yoga book is a fabulous way to practice poses. Bravo!

January 30, 2026 at 7:17 amHEy thanks for the response! One of my issues seems to be that i do something like these, feel that I’ve grown a bit – and that’s that. Instead, it’s time to either redo these, but faster or improved, or do a different ten.

January 30, 2026 at 7:41 pmChallenging yourself to draw the same poses with different lengths of time would be hugely beneficial.
I’d recommend 10 sec, 30 sec, & 1 min. The short time frame is valuable because it forces you to make decisions and trust your gut, which will create more confident lines, and a myriad of other skills. You’re doing a great job, mind you; it’s a good practice for all artists who want to do study the human form.
