Class Description:
Welcome to Hand Lettering 101! Join instructor Shelby Abrahamsen as she covers all of the basics. There is a whole world of creativity and self-expression to be discovered through lettering!
In the beginning of this course, you’ll learn precisely what lettering is and the materials you’ll need to get started. Then, you’ll learn the proper posture and form needed when lettering, including how to sit, move your arm, and hold your pen. Once you’ve got that down, you’ll move on to letter anatomy and line weight, followed by drills to practice everything you’ve learned so far. The last lessons delve into the finer details of hand lettering, including consistency, font families, and how to space your layouts.
The end of the course features SIX lettering projects. Shelby will walk you through each piece, step-by-step, as you apply everything you’ve learned through practical applications.

For me - the hardest course I've completed. Handwriting and lettering is very difficult for me to do. Somewhere along the way, my hand lettering skills jump off the track and crash landed. Shelby is such a patient instructor and she provides some lively exercises and downloadable material for you to practice and learn from. I've made some progress!
